
Could Be a Caxton is a new bi-monthly initiative introduced by the Caxton Committee to celebrate great newspaper creative on a regular basis.
Could Be a Caxton is an offshoot of the annual Caxton Awards and the winner of each Could Be a Caxton will be announced on the new Caxton website and profiled in the trade press, along with comments from the judge. The copywriter and art director responsible for the newspaper campaign judged best of the year’s Could Be a Caxton bi-monthly winning ads, will score an all expenses-paid trip to the 2010 Caxton Awards.

Could Be a Caxton is very simple to enter. All you have to do to enter your Could Be a Caxton is tear out the whole newspaper sheet that the ad appeared in, fill in the downloadable entry form and pop them both in an envelope and post to the below address:

There is no cost to enter the Could Be a Caxton.

The judging line-up for the 2010 Could Be a Caxtons is:
Ben Welsh – Executive Creative Director, M&C Saatchi Sydney
Ron Mather – Founder, It’s The Thought Melbourne
Julia Elton-Bott – Art Director, Marketforce Perth
Shaun Branagan – Creative Director, AdPartners Sydney
Chris Pearce – Copywriter, Clemenger Sydney

Any advertisement that appeared in a newspaper and is created & produced in Australia or New Zealand is eligible. These include metro, regional, community and suburban newspapers represented by the major newspaper publishers.
Campaigns as well as single entries will be eligible as long as the campaign has run within the below set of bi-monthly dates. Campaign will be judged along side single entries.
Please note only newspaper ads are eligible for the Could Be a Caxton. Ads that have only appeared in inserted magazines are NOT eligible.
The ad must be sent in its true form i.e. ripped straight out of the newspaper.
No one ad can be entered into the Could Be a Caxton twice.
Anyone is eligible to enter a newspaper ad into the Could Be a Caxton. It is not limited to the creative industry. Ads can be submitted by publishers, sales teams, clients, account service, media agencies and so on.
Eligibility Dates for 2010/2011:
Feb/Mar competition - 1 Feb-31 Mar 2010
April/May competition - 1 April-31 May 2010
June/July competition - 1 June-31 July 2010
Aug/Sept competition - 1 Aug-30 Sept 2010
Oct/Nov competition - 1 Oct-30 Nov 2010
Dec/Jan competition - 1 Dec-31 Jan 2011
Entries must be received by the last day of the month. If, however, your advertisement appears for the first time towards the end of the competition period and you are concerned that you will miss the deadline, please alert The Newspaper Works via admin@thenewspaperworks.com.au so that they can assist you with your submission.
