43 FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR 2009 CAXTON AWARDS
Judging of entries into the 2009 Caxton Awards for excellence in newspaper advertising has been completed, with a total of 43 finalists chosen in 18 categories.
DDB New Zealand narrowly led the field in securing a total of 10 finalists, while Marketforce was hot on its heels with 9 finalists. 303 Group scored 4 finalists, with CumminsNitro and Grey Melbourne scoring 3 nominations each. (See below for a list of finalists).

Commenting on this year’s Caxton Award entries, Chairman of the judging panel, BMF Executive Creative Director Warren Brown, said: “There’s definitely a thrill when you see great work in a newspaper.
“The freshness, topicality and inventiveness of the best ideas really stick and get people engaged and talking about what they’ve seen very quickly.
“All of the judges wanted to see newspaper advertising put its best foot forward, so the selection of work and awarding of Caxtons was a very enjoyable experience and one that made me proud to be chairman,” Brown said.
“For those going to this year’s Caxtons, I hope you think we awarded the best work and the winning ads inspire you to use newspapers for your next brilliant idea.
Caxton Committee Chairman Rob Belgiovane said: “We’ve been very pleased with the breadth of entries in the Caxton Awards from both Australia and New Zealand this year, and that is reflected in the scope and quality of the list of 2009 finalists.”
He added that the Awards, combined with the great line-up of speakers for the Caxton Seminar, made the 2009 Caxtons weekend a “must-attend” event.
This year’s Caxton Seminar and Awards will be held October 23-25, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency, Coolum. Award winners will be announced at the Seminar.
